Welcome!

I'm an MIT junior from Ukraine studying AI and Linguistics.

Background

Jina AI ⋅ In Summer 2025, I interned at Jina AI, building a code embedding model. I learned about information retrieval, neural search, and industry-scale model training.

Syntax Neurons ⋅ In 2025, I worked with Greta Tuckute, Andrea de Varda, and Prof. Evelina Fedorenko at EvLab on localizing neural units implicated in syntax processing in LLMs. We discovered that different types of syntactic agreement (e.g., subject-verb and determiner-noun agreement) consistently engage the same units, even across languages.

Targeted Syntactic Evaluations ⋅ In 2024, I worked with Prof. Roger Levy at the Computational Psycholinguistics Lab on applying the targeted syntactic evaluation methodology to assess multilingual LMs' knowledge of grammars of low-resource languages. I presented the paper that resulted from this research at the LoResLM workshop at COLING 2025 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Linguistics Olympiads

I represented Ukraine at four editions of the International Linguistics Olympiad:

The participation experience taught me to think outside the box of my native language and culture and look for imaginative problem solutions.
IOL 2023 in Bansko, Bulgaria.

I still support the linguistics olympiad community by creating and testing problems. Below is a list of contests where I served as a member of the Problem Committee, along with problems I wrote:
